1. Who we are

Wiener Club is operated by Studio Flashback BV (company number BE 0651.940.265), Ijzendijkestraat 43, 9000 Ghent, Belgium. Studio Flashback BV acts as the data controller for your personal data.

Questions about your privacy, or a request about your data? Email woof@wienerclub.app or use the contact form at the bottom of your profile.

2. What data we collect

Account: your email address and username, and an optional short bio and profile photo.

Your dog(s): the profile you build (name, birthday, breed details, weight, photos) and the records you choose to add, such as vaccinations. This is information about your dog; you decide what to fill in.

Content you post: questions, answers, photos, playdates, places and reviews, likes and follows.

Messages: the direct messages you send to other owners (see section 9 for how these are stored and protected).

Location: the municipality/country on your dog’s profile, the meeting point of a playdate you create, and your device’s location to record a walk route (only while you actively use the walk tracker).

Usage: limited, largely anonymous analytics about how the app is used, so we can improve it.

3. What we use it for

To make the app work: showing your content to the community, letting owners message each other, matching similar dachshunds, showing relevant playdates, sending the notifications you switch on and preventing abuse. We do not sell your data.

4. Services we rely on

We use a few trusted services to run the app, which process data on our behalf:

Supabase for database, login and photo storage, on servers in the EU. Our email provider to send the notification emails you switch on. OpenStreetMap to look up places and addresses you search for. A weather service that receives only the approximate location of a playdate to show its forecast. Anthropic (Claude) to power in-app translation and to analyse public community content - including the text and the photos of public posts, questions and playdates - for quality, spam and safety, and to derive anonymous community insights (for example popular topics, breeds, settings or whether dogs wear gear) that help us understand trends and improve the app. These insights are aggregated and not used to build a profile of you. Only public content is sent to Anthropic; your direct messages are never included. App hosting and, in the mobile app, Apple/Google for push notifications.

We do not give these parties your data for their own purposes.

5. Stored on your device

To work smoothly, the app also keeps a copy of some of your data locally on your device (such as your profile, settings and preferences). Clearing the app’s data removes this local copy.

6. Notifications & email

If you switch on notifications (such as the weekly community digest email or reminders), we use them to bring you back to relevant activity. You can turn any of these off at any time in Notification preferences.

To send a reminder at a time that is useful rather than annoying, we look at your own activity in the app — when you tend to open it and when you have been inactive — and your device time zone, so a reminder arrives around your usual active hour and only when it has been quiet. This uses only your own activity; we do not read your location, Wi-Fi networks or whether your phone is on silent. Turn reminders off any time in Notification preferences.

7. Advertising

The app may show ads. Ads can be shown broadly (for example by country or age range) but are not based on selling your personal data. We keep anonymous counts of how often an ad is shown or tapped.

8. Where and how long

Your data is processed on servers in the EU. We keep it for as long as your account exists or as long as needed to run the app, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

9. Direct messages

Direct messages are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and, thanks to row-level security, are only visible to you and the person you are messaging.

They are not end-to-end encrypted: messages are stored on our servers so the conversation works across your devices and so we can act on abuse reports. This means we can, in limited cases (such as a valid report or a legal obligation), access message content. When you delete your account, your messages are deleted along with the rest of your data. Please do not share highly sensitive information (passwords, payment details) in chat.

10. Security

Your connection to the app is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to data is restricted with row-level security: you only see and manage your own account and the public community content. Block or report users directly in the app.

11. Content moderation & safety

We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report any post, comment, photo, profile or message, and block any member. We review reported content and users and act on them within 24 hours, removing content and banning offenders. This helps keep the community safe.

We also use automated analysis (by Anthropic/Claude) of public posts, questions and playdates - including the photos in them - to detect spam, advertising, unsafe, clearly off-topic or likely AI-generated content. This is a community for dog owners, so a photo that shows no dog or other dog/pet context may be treated as off-topic. To help spot AI-generated images we may also read provenance metadata (such as C2PA "content credentials") embedded in a photo.

Based on this analysis the app may act automatically: clear spam, unsafe imagery or an off-topic photo can be hidden from the community straight away, and we notify the author with the reason. Content that is only possibly off-topic or low-quality is not hidden automatically but placed in a queue for a person to review. If the same account repeatedly has content removed, it may be automatically blocked from posting and is then put forward for a person to review. This analysis never applies to your direct messages.

Because content can be hidden or an account blocked automatically, you can always contest such a decision: you are notified when it happens, a person can review it, and your content or access can be restored. Reach us at woof@wienerclub.app or via the contact form.

12. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to export it, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your account and all its data directly in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account), or request this via woof@wienerclub.app or the contact form; we will follow up within a reasonable time.

13. Age

Wiener Club is intended for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please use the app only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
